Today I did another Emmett–Horseshoe Bend loop and this time I did a bunch of VO2 intervals up Hwy 16 and through Emmett. They ended up going well. I was only shooting for 4-minute intervals, but I extended a couple so that they ended on top of rise. Power was better than my last set of VO2s so I was happy with that.
I then rode tempo through Black Canyon. I wanted to push it and do an LT interval up Old Horseshoe Bend Hill but that only last 10 minutes. By the time I reached the midway point my power had dropped to below threshold and I was really hurting. I pushed through the pain with the thought that once I got to the top it was all downhill. I made it home totally wasted, but had that good feeling of knowing that this workout will only make me stronger…I hope!
