Today we flew out to Chicago for the USCF Criterium Championships. Since we were flying non-rev, we ended up having to split up since there was only one seat left on the original flight we wanted to take out of Salt Lake City. But it worked out and I was able to get most of the bags and the rental car before Heather came in. We checked into our hotel, which is actually in Lombard, but only a five-minute drive from the race course. We drove to Downers Grove and drove the course. Well, not the whole course since that would have involved going down a one-way street the wrong way! The course looks really fun. It has a lot of corners, it’s got some gradual ups and downs, one small jammer hill and most of the road surfaces are really smooth. I’m excited for some fast racing action in tomorrow’s Pro-Am challenge. I’m mainly using it as a warm-up for Sunday’s Cat 2 Challenge. But if I’m feeling good…who knows?!?
