Soreness

During this week “off” I’ve been hitting the gym a bit more—every other day to be exact. I lifted on Tuesday, and then again on Thursday. I was a little sore after Tuesday’s lift, but I wasn’t at all after Thursday’s. So I decided to up the weight and number of sets on Saturday. I went to the State St Idaho Athletic Club and took the popular 8 AM Yoga class, followed by a lift and a short swim. I felt pretty good during the lift, but by the evening, I could feel my glutes getting a little sore. Then today when I got out of bed, I couldn’t believe it, my legs were so sore! Mainly my glutes and my calves…soleus to be exact, since I did seated calve raises. I thought since I wasn’t sore on Friday that increasing the weights wouldn’t be a problem but I guess since I did a couple of new exercises, I worked muscles I hadn’t previously worked. So I’ve been hobbling up and down the stairs today and my legs screamed at me every time I got out of a chair after sitting for a while. Oh, what joy! At least I know that the lifts I’ve been doing definitely work!
