The next day was the Morning After Crit held in downtown Boise. There was a good turnout for the crit; the women 1-3 started with 16 women. The crit was fairly active with Team Goldy’s and Dasani, Melissa Sanborn, Ina Teutenberg, and me. Kendra Wenzel was even out to play; she is Melissa’s coach and runs the Subway men’s team. I attacked, counterattacked, and followed many moves. I knew I wasn’t going to win the event if it came down to a sprint. Jeanne McFall crashed going into a corner when I was off with Ina and Melissa. They took Jeanne off in an ambulance, but luckily she was ok. They neutralized the race and after the ambulance left started us all together for ten minutes plus five laps. With two laps to go, we were all still together and the pace was slow. I launched an attack with just under two laps to go. Nicole Brandt (Dasani) bridged up to me with half a lap to go. I kept pushing the pace, but Melissa Sanborn flew past us with 200 m to go. I held on for a second with Nicole third. Sima Trapp (Goldy’s) won the sprint for 4th.
