Today Heather and I participated in the Racin’ for Jason criterium down at Bown Crossing. They had races yesterday as well, but since we did a hard LT ride on Saturday, we decided to only race today. The weather was perfect and the course was brand new pavement.
My race was fast and hard. I still think I’m coming out of my overtraining phase and I just don’t have the energy or power I need to hang. So I got dropped about halfway through. Even though I wasn’t feeling great, it must have been a hard race because I was in good company with some strong riders who formed a decent chase group. We didn’t actually get lapped until about 10 minutes to go. I was so wasted that I could hardly pull through. I’m sure people were wondering what the heck is up with me, but hopefully by mid-summer, I’ll be riding where I want to.
The good news is there were no crashes and my teammate, Cody Hall won it. He also won Sunday’s race so he ended up winning the omnium. Henry Harper gets the stud award for the most races raced…8 total for both days (mountain bike, masters, cat 3, and pro 1–3 races). That’s just sick! I was dead after one!
