While I didn’t plan to do a 60-minute interval, that’s what I ended up doing today. I just wanted to get in some LT work and started with a 20-minute effort. Things felt good from the beginning so within the first ten minutes I decided to do 2x30s. By the time I got to the 30-minute mark, it was still easy enough that I didn’t feel the need for a break of any kind, so I just kept going.
I alternated between the 16- and 17-tooth cogs every five minutes which gave some cadence variety (~96–101 rpm). Wattage was a respectable 289, confirming that it may be time to adjust my FTP. This effort felt pretty easy, even during the last 15 minutes. If this had been a true 1-hour test, I’m guessing I could have easily done 295, and probably 300. But to play it safe I’m only going to bump it up to 295 for now, then do a real FTP test in a couple weeks.
