It’s been so cold recently that I hadn’t been on the road in a couple weeks. I’ve just been hammering out my workouts on my trusty old Kreitler Rollers with Headwind fan unit. Now that I think about it, I’ve had those things for about fourteen years now, wow! But today the morning temperature was warmer than it had been for a long while but it still looked threatening outside. I waited until noon and then both the sky and the radar images, showed no signs of rain so I headed out.
It was breezy, with a strong southeast wind, so I I decided to do a Dump Loop. I would head out on Hill Rd then come back on Cartwright. The headwind on the way out would give me the opportunity to do a 1×20 minute LT interval. Then I could do a longer LT interval on the return trip on Cartwright Rd. Between being on the road and the headwind, it was easy to get my wattage up and keep it there. During the Cartwright interval, I pushed the hills and the soft-pedaled the downhills. I pushed it up Seaman’s Gulch and then ended the interval just past the top. After that, I mostly spun easy home with a couple pushes thrown in for fun, the tailwind was just too good. It was a short but solid workout!
