Today I rode the Hamilton Corner Loop…again! It really is a great route and perfect for doing intervals as there aren’t many intersections. Early on, while riding on Foothill Rd, I bumped into Chip who was doing some road surveying. He just moved from California and is training to ride cross country this fall. And I don’t mean cross-country mountain biking, I mean he plans to ride from New York to California to raise money and awareness for our fallen service men. Wow! So I’m going to hook him up with the Lost River Cycling Club so he can have some riding partners to train with.
After that little break, I settled back into a tempo pace. I was happy to see my wattage around 240-250 without much effort. I waited until later in the ride to start my intervals. I did one on Hwy 52 going into Emmett. It hurt more than yesterday’s first interval, but I guess that’s expected after riding tempo for an hour. Plus, I probably had some residual fatigue from yesterday’s short, but intense workout. Then I stopped in Emmett for some much needed water. Did I mention it was 80°F out? It was awesome weather! As long as I have enough liquids, I just love riding in the heat!
Then I started my next interval up Old Freezeout and continued all the way down Hwy 16 to Beacon Light. It was tough to keep my wattage up but I pushed through it. With all the tempo and LT intervals, it was a hard ride, so tomorrow is an obligatory rest day.
