After a couple recovery days, I got back into it today but kept it short. I got on the trainer and did my usual 5-minute warm-up push at my threshold power (FTP). It felt hard, even after resting for two days. I then did a 10-minute LT microburst interval where I fluctuate my power between 150% and 50% of my FTP every 15 seconds. At first, I was surprised how easy it was during the “on” cycles, but after a couple minutes it catches up with you! Then by minute five, it was getting downright tough and I started counting down the time. I ended up averaging 319 watts, which is higher than I targeted and somewhat explains why it felt so hard. After that interval, I took the bike off the trainer went outside for some sprints. I only did four and their wattage wasn’t anything to write home about. I think the LT Micro interval took more out of my legs than I thought it would. But still a good hour-long workout. A perfect workout the day before tomorrow’s long tempo ride. Let’s hope the forecast holds out!
