I just finished the first “base” phase of my 2007 training plan today. On Friday I did a nice 3-hour mountain bike ride. Saturday, my teammate KV and I did the Hamilton Corner loop. I mainly focused on doing Tempo, but early on in the ride, I did do a 1-minute max effort. I wasn’t happy with my score when I tested on the rollers so I wanted to see what I could achieve on the road. I ended up getting within 6% of my all-time best! Then on Sunday I rode to Bogus Basin Rd and climbed up to about the 4000 ft sign for some more LT work. It was unseasonably warm and I was soaking it up knowing that winter is just around the corner!
Since the weather has been so great, almost all of my cardio hours were on the bike. The timing of my first recovery week is perfect as it looks like next week will finally cool off and we should see some rain. This past week I managed to get in 15 hrs on the bike and an even 900 TSS. Not a bad end to a quality 3-week block of training.
