With reports that the air quality would get better on Saturday, I went ahead and tried to register for the Bogus Basin Hill Climb through Spondoro.com. Ironically, when I got to the last step where you enter your payment information, the secure server site timed-out. I even tried it again a little while later but had the same issue. Maybe this was a sign that I really shouldn’t do the race?! So I went to bed thinking that if it looked really clear in the morning, I’d still do it. Otherwise, I’d skip it.
But when I awoke this morning, the air still looked hazy. I also didn’t feel so great, with my low-grade allergies making me a bit phlegmy. So I made my final decision NOT to do the hill climb. So instead, Heather and I did some errands this morning then headed over to HH’s house for Intermountain Orthopaedics post-Bogus barbecue. It was fun socializing and getting to know people off our bikes and there was lots of good food to be eaten. Those who did the race complained a little about the air, but also how the new chip-seal slowed times this year. The Department of Environmental Quality downgraded the alert today, but they say it could get worse again next week.
