Today we flew out from Boise early in the morning and arrived in Milwaukee in the afternoon. After waiting 45 minutes in the baggage claim area for our double bike case we finally found the Delta baggage desk and learned that our bikes didn’t make it on our connecting flight. Since we were flying non-revenue, they won’t deliver the bikes when they arrive. So we will have to return to the airport to pick them up, but we have to drive by the airport area tomorrow anyway to get to our first race.
We got our rental mini-van and drove out to our host home of Julie and Kevin. They are a popular cycling couple in the area and had their heydays a few years ago but and are now busy with three children. After a brief stop at the local grocery store, the Piggly Wiggly, we hung out and visited with them until late in the evening and got the low-down on all the Superweek courses. Tomorrow is the Alpine Valley road race. One of three road races which then give way to the predominance of criteriums.
