This afternoon we drove to Baker City, Oregon for the Elkhorn Classic stage race. We could have driven over tomorrow morning since the race doesn’t start until 1:30 PM Pacific time but we decided to come tonight so we could check into our hotel and relax and not have to drive the day of a 75-mile race. Plus, now we have time tomorrow morning to check out the new time trial course for this year’s event.
The drive was nice with warm clear weather. It’s supposed to get hotter through the weekend, but due to the altitude, it should still be a little cooler than in Boise. We’re staying at the Welcome Inn, which is first for us. The race hotel only had smoking rooms left so we decided to try this hotel out. The rooms are nice and clean and the hotel in general seems pretty new. There was a nice antique car parked out front that I just had to take a picture of!
