Phoenix, AZ — Last night we moved to Heather’s cousin’s house. Since we’re staying a few more days, we didn’t want to impose on our host home. Plus, Heather’s mom and aunt are also staying here so it would make things easier. The funny thing was that Heather’s cousin had arranged for us to ride with a couple friends of hers. She described Cindy and Kevin and it sounded an awful like the couple I borrowed a trainer from. When she told me their last name the thought was confirmed…it was the same couple! Small world, eh? So today we met up with Cindy and Kevin as well as another Brumby and friend of theirs. We strolled out towards Bush Hwy and then stopped at Usery Pass Rd where Cindy and her friend turned off due to time  constraints.

Kevin continued to ride with us and we rode up to Beeline Hwy. I broke out the camera to take some pictures and a triathlete came up Beeline and offered to take the picture. What timing! We then turned back down Bush Hwy with Brian joining us for a while. We rode up Usery Pass and then Kevin took us through some nice neighborhoods to avoid the bigger roads.

The whole ride my legs were very heavy due to the weekend of racing. I pushed it at the end because I had run out of water and just wanted to get home. I’m sure Kevin and Heather were wondering what I was doing. I figured getting in some tempo work after a weekend stage race will help my endurance for longer stage races in the future, so I wasn’t really concerned about keeping this a true recovery ride.
