Eagle, ID — With my main focus on cycling I’ve been diligent about following the training plan I laid out for myself a few weeks ago. I was conservative with my target for annual training hours so that if I felt good and things were going well, I could always do more than I had projected. Training in the winter is the hardest part for me. I don’t have the trainer gene like Heather, who can do 5-hour rides on a stationary trainer! And I’m also a wimp when it comes to the cold weather. I usually only go outside if it’s above 45°. So I typically rely on cross-training this time of year in addition to the strength training I usually do during the off-season. This week, despite not being able to get outside for a ride, I managed to get 21 hours in! It was a mix of spin classes, cardio equipment and the strength work. Heather and I got an “all-club” membership to Idaho Athletic Club and have been pretty happy with all the clubs we’ve been to.
