Since I switched to 30hrs/week at work, I now don’t work on Wednesdays. Wednesdays are the perfect day to do long rides since it gives me two days to recover before the weekend, which are usually filled with races, typically starting on Saturday. Today I did one of our favorite long loops. We call it Hamilton Corners to Emmett. I head west, out on Floating Feather and Foothill through Middleton to Old Hwy 30. Head north on Old Hwy 30 to Hamilton corners. There I make a right on route 52 which is smooth and flat for 20 miles, taking you into Emmett. Then I take Old Freezeout up to Highway 16 and head south to Beacon Light. The big deal about doing this ride today is I did it on the PowerCranks! 4.6 hours and 96 miles of constant pulling up on the pedals! This was my longest PowerCrank ride to date. I actually felt fine for the first 3.5 hours. It wasn’t until I had to go up Old Freezeout that my hip flexors started to suffer. But I think I’m finally over the hump and hopefully, all this PowerCrank training will help my racing.
