This morning we did 10 laps of the new Monument Ridge course. Since they paved this part of Can Ada road, it has become a popular place to host races on. Last year I did well at the Monument Ridge circuit race and then later at State Championships which finished on this hill. But with my current fitness level or lack thereof, I knew it would be a tough race. Well, a break got off and I was content to hang with the pack. I could tell there were a few who wanted more people to work, but I knew with 2 stages left I didn’t want to burn myself out. Without a lot of base volume, I wanted to be conservative.

This afternoon we had the TT using the same course on north Eagle road as last year. My conservation in this morning’s stage paid off…I got 5th in the time trial, but the time gaps were too big to make any significant change in GC.
