This is one of the races Lactic Acid Cycling puts on during the year. It is a short circuit with a hill that we do 20 times. I was there early in the morning to help sweep the course and make sure the roads are all clear of sand and debris. The good news this year is they paved the descent right after the hill so it is smooth and devoid of the wash-boardy bumps that were there last year. I also marshaled for a couple races and there was a lot of traffic going to and from the trailhead further up Eagle Road. There was some sort of event going on that I think we also conflicted with last year. I have a feeling this may be the last year we can have the event at this location.
The race went well for me as my only goal was to finish with the main pack. Last year I only lasted 10 of the 20 laps. I felt much better than last week and achieved my goal. It may have been a slightly slower pace towards the end because there was a break of two off the front, but I still felt satisfied with my finish.
