Friday we met as a team and rode the course. Our final teammate, Nicky Wansgard, arrived last night. Kate Maher was supposed to join us for Nationals, but she crashed at the Liberty Classic in Philadelphia and cracked a couple of ribs. We met after the ride to get our final massages and discuss team tactics for the road race. It is funny how team meetings go. We all give our goals. Then we discuss how we can help our teammates accomplish their goals. Then we discuss what we think will happen during the race and how we will react to it. This is always the most drawn-out portion, because you can come up with hundreds of scenarios, and the chances of any of them occurring are sometimes slim. We finally decided that the race would be one of attrition and those who could make the selections should.
