Pursuit Qualifier
Houston, TX — I warmed up on the trainer. I felt pretty good. It was windy today. I used a 52 x 15 (93.6 gear). I was in last heat with Sarah Uhl. Erin Mirabella and Becky Conzuelman were in the heat before me. They were screaming fast and equally matched. I got a terrible start. The guy holding my bike didn’t let go of me, so all my initial power was checked and it threw me uptrack. Then I had to get going down track. I started on the back stretch, which had the headwind. After losing that momentum, it took a bit to get going. I did a good job of not going out too hard. I was able to keep the laps steady and pick it up the entire time. Sarah was ahead of me the first half, and then I brought her back and won by three seconds. Erin won it in 3:57.172, Becky was 2nd in 3:58.063, I was 3rd in 4:03.370, and Sarah Uhl was 4th in 4:07.987.
Pursuit Finals
Houston, TX — I got a good warm up in, and then it rained. We waited for the track to dry. I did a quick warm up before Sarah and I did the 3 vs 4 final pursuit. I started on the home straight tonight. I had a great pursuit tonight. I didn’t go as fast as I wanted to go, but I was able to build and finish strong. I used a 52 x 15 (93.6 gear). I had good splits. I almost caught Sarah. For the longest time I couldn’t see Sarah, and then she was in front of me. I had a time of 4:05 to take 3rd place. Sarah had a time of 4:17 for 4th place. In the pursuit for 1st and 2nd, Becky won it in 3:59 and Erin was 2nd in 4:02. They did an awards ceremony, and Mark Bing (a doctor who was a sponsor for the event) gave us our prizes. It started raining hard on the way home, so we finished just in time.
